Aim:  The AACR Lung Cancer Research Fellowships represent a joint effort to encourage and support postdoctoral or clinical research fellows to conduct lung cancer research and to establish a successful career path in this field. The research proposed for funding may be basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological in nature and must have direct applicability and relevance to the impact of driver mutations on lung cancer development and progression.

Funding:         USD $120’000

Duration:        2 years

Eligibility: Applicants must have a doctoral degree (including PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) in a related field and not currently be a candidate for a further doctoral degree.

At the start of the grant term on July 1, 2020, applicants must: 1) hold a mentored research position with the title of postdoctoral fellow, clinical research fellow, or the equivalent, 2) have completed their most recent doctoral degree within the past five years, and 3) work under the auspices of a mentor at an academic, medical, or research institution anywhere in the world.

Applicants should be AACR members. Annual dues are not required for early-career researchers interested in Associate membership. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR membership, and be members in good standing, by the application deadline. Nonmembers can apply for membership using the Official Application for Membership submitted to the AACR with the required documents or apply online.

Grant recipient must attend the Grants Reception and Dinner at the AACR Annual Meeting 2020 (28-04-20) to formally accept the grant. Grant funds may be used to support the grantee’s registration and attendance at this Annual Meeting.

How to Apply: AACR requires applicants to complete an online application using the proposalCENTRAL website. If you are a new user of proposalCENTRAL, first create your account. If EPFL will serve as your host institution, please use the following institution name in proposalCENTRAL: Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne EPFL.  If you are a returning user, access the site and log in with your Username and Password. To start a Letter of Intent, select the “Grant Opportunities” tab, then select “Filter List by GrantMaker” at the top and click “American Association for Cancer Research” in the drop down menu. Find the “AACR Lung Cancer Research Fellowships” and click the blue “Apply Now” button in the “Apply” column.
