The BIAL Foundation was created in 1994 by Laboratórios BIAL in conjunction with the Council of Rectors of the Portuguese Universities. BIAL Foundation’s mission is to foster the scientific study of the human being from both the physical and spiritual perspectives. It is managed by representatives from both institutions.

With the aim of encouraging the research into healthy human being’s physical and mental processes, namely in fields still largely unexplored but which warrant further scientific analysis, the BIAL Foundation has launched a Grants programme for Scientific Research in the fields of Psychophysiology and Parapsychology.

Projects from Clinical or Experimental Models of Human Disease and Therapy shall not be accepted.

Who can apply: All scientific researchers will be admitted as applicants, either individually or in groups, except those working for BIAL Foundation or for any of the companies belonging to BIAL Group.

Funding & Duration: max. EUR 50K for up to 36 months.

  • Eligible costs: personnel (incl. PI’s salary); travel, registration fees and daily allowance (max. 10% of the total requested funding) for conference participation, fieldwork, meetings and visits; consultancy expenses, acquisition of goods and services (e.g. consumables, reagents, books, subscriptions to journals); publication fees; equipment (max. 50% of the total requested funding).
  • Does NOT cover: Hardware (such as desktop, laptop, tablet, monitor, printer, scanner, mobile phone, etc.); Overheads; Indirect costs and payments for the use of spaces or equipment.

Deadline: 31 August 2020
NOTE: Please contact research@epfl.ch at least 7 working days prior to the call deadline to obtain the mandatory institutional support letter.

Decision: within 4 months
Start of the project: between 1 January and 31 October 2021
