Aim: The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research. The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation now invites applications for its Young Investigator grant (YI). This enables young investigators in the field of neurobiology to extend their research fellowship training or to begin careers as independent research faculty. The aim is to facilitate innovative research opportunities and support basic, translational or clinical investigators.
All research must be relevant to the understanding, treatment and prevention of serious psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar, mood and anxiety disorders, or early onset brain and behaviour disorders.
Duration:      2 years

Funding:        $35’000/year

Eligibility: Applicant must hold a doctoral level degree and already be employed in research training, or be in a faculty research position. The YI Grant is intended to support advanced post-doctoral fellows, instructors and assistant professors (or equivalent). The applicant must have an on-site mentor /senior collaborator who is an established investigator in areas relevant to psychiatric disorders. They may apply up to twice for this award and may not hold this award more than two times. Only one principal investigator is allowed per application.

How to Apply: Applications are submitted online and must include the following sections in a single PDF: face sheet, abstract, C.V., proposal, research training/career plans, budget, mentor support letter, mentor C.V., references, collaborator letter, and institutional assurance letter.
