The goal of the program is to accelerate our understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias as well as innovative approaches to better diagnose, prevent or delay the progress of the disease. Preference is made for exciting pilot projects that would not, at their present stage, be competitive for large government or industry awards. Typically, these awards are made to early stage investigators, or to more established investigators who are proposing particularly innovative research.

Funding:      Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award: $100,000
                     Standard Award: $100,000

Duration:     Post-Doctoral Fellowship: 2 years
                     Standard Award: 3 years

Post-Doctoral Fellowships are limited to researchers within 5 years of doctoral degree conferral (or end of residency).
All other applicants are encouraged to apply for a standard award.

How to apply:
To start a new application and upload attachments, you must use our ProposalCentral application portal to apply online.
  1. You will need to register your organization. Upon doing so, a system-defined password will be emailed to you, along with a link to the BrightFocus' ProposalCentral application portal (
  2. Next, you will need to change the system-defined password to one of your own choosing.
  3. Once you create and submit the new password, you will be taken to the application portal where you will be given step-by-step instructions on how to proceed with the application process.
    Note: If you have issues accessing or navigating BrightFocus’ ProposalCentral application portal using Microsoft Internet Explorer, then switch to another web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
  4. Attachments are required and must be submitted through the application portal. The final page of the attachment templates should be signed and returned to BrightFocus as specified in the instructions.
