Cluster algebras were introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky to study
total positivity and canonical bases. They have since been used in many different subjects.
Cluster algebras are commutative algebras, hence one can look at them from a geometric
point of view and study the associated cluster varieties. I will describe some results about
the class of cluster varieties associated with trees, dealing in particular with numbers
of points over finite fields and cohomology rings.
