Aim: The CF Foundation is the world's leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis and is pleased to announce an upcoming new Request For Applications (RFA) for “Advancing Gene Editing Technologies and Tools for Cystic Fibrosis.” These awards are intended to support gene-editing research in repairing or circumventing CFTR mutations in individuals with cystic fibrosis. To bring new technologies to the CF field, investigators without experience in CF research are encouraged to apply.

This RFA will provide funding opportunities for up to 3 years of funding for  
Research Award

Up to $200,000 per year plus 8% indirect costs for up to 3 years

Independent investigators:
  • Must be a M.D., PhD or dual
  • Must demonstrate a track record of discovery, investigation, and external funding resulting in long-term commitment of salary, personnel and research resources
  • Candidates who are postdoctoral fellows should apply to the Postdoctoral Fellowship program.
 
Pilot and Feasibility Award

Up to $75,000 per year plus 8% indirect costs for up to 2 years

Independent investigators:
  • Must be a M.D., PhD or dual
  • Candidates who are postdoctoral fellows should apply to the Postdoctoral Fellowship program.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Award

First-year fellowship: up to $63,100
Second-year fellowship: up to $65,450
  • Postdoctoral applicants engaged in or planning CF-related research are eligible. Preference will be given to recent graduates and those just beginning their research careers.
  • Applicants can apply for this fellowship anytime during their postdoctoral period. However, funding levels are based on the year when the award is made, not the year of the applicant’s fellowship.
  • Fellowships are awarded on the basis of individual and institutional merit. Awards are not transferable to other individuals or institutions unless previously approved by the CFF Program Director
 
Collaborative Award

Up to $75,000 per year (max $250,000) per project per year within the collaborative project plus 8% indirect costs for up to 3 years

Independent investigators:
  • Must be a M.D., Ph.D. or dual M.D., Ph.D. and must be a well-established scientist.
  • Must demonstrate a track record of discovery, investigation, and eternal funding resulting into long-term commitment of salary, personnel and research resources

                       
Eligibility: International applicants and institutions are required to submit additional information in accordance with U.S. anti-terrorism restrictions.
