A marimba as the sole musical instrument, played alone, in a duo, or a trio – the program of Desalpe is built around a single instrument shared by its musicians.
A number of Swiss tunes have been composed for the marimba. For their tour, the Usinesonore Association have made it their cause to increase their visibility by adding five Swiss pieces to their set list. As a mirror to the Swiss compositions, they will also perform compositions of traditional music from Mexico, the original homeland of the marimba, which over the years has evolved into the form that we are familiar with today.
