This award supports research with the aim of developing new treatments or improvement of current treatments for depression, specifically in individuals with or at risk for Parkinson’s disease. Research efforts that will make significant advancements in the understanding of serotonergic and non-serotonergic molecular pathways identified with depression and associated biologic phenomena that link the pathways to other risk factors in the development and progression of PD are encouraged.
Candidates must be independent investigators at associate professor level or higher.
Funding is worth up to US$1.5 million in direct costs over a maximum of three years, and may cover salary, research supplies, clinical research costs, travel between collaborating organisations, travel to attend meetings, data-sharing and publication costs, equipment costs and support for multidisciplinary collaborations
