In this talk I will present some results obtained in joint work with L. Funar (Institut Fourier-CNRS) on the explicit construction of quasi-homomorphisms on the universal central extension of the mapping class group of an oriented surface. These come as restriction of Dupont-Guichardet-Wigner quasi-morphisms on pseudo-unitary groups, and their construction is inspired by the work of Barge-Ghys on quasi-homomorphisms on Symplectic groups. These objects have two main properties: first, as showed by Burger and Iozzi, they classify pseudo-unitary representations of the mapping class group, and second because they allow to estimate the size of the kernels of the TQFT representations of the mapping class groups.
