Clustered elements have been employed to model continuous cables that slide over multiple nodes in cable and membrane structures as well as tensegrity structures. Although continuous cables can be advantageous elements for construction and control purposes, they can significantly change the dynamic behaviour of a structure increasing its nonlinear aspect and thus the complexity of shape and vibration control. This talk focuses on the dynamic behaviour of clustered tensegrity structures. Linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis schemes are presented. A study on vibration mitigation is presented for tensegrity-based structures subjected to harmonic and random excitations. Latest research results are presented and open problems are highlighted.
