Joelyn De Lima Joelyn de Lima is an educational researcher (W.K. Kellogg Biological Station, Michigan State University, USA) and a pedagogical advisor (EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland). She is a scientist whose research focuses on evaluating and understanding the efficacy of instructional and assessment techniques, a trained educator with experience in teaching at school and university levels, a pedagogical advisor with expertise in STEM pedagogy, and an experienced science communicator who has worked to engage and share knowledge with a wide variety of audiences in multiple countries. Her background has given her a unique blend of perspectives – in terms of culture (She has lived, worked, and taught on 3 continents), theoretical grounding (natural sciences and education), and practice (research & education, formal & informal education, K-12 & university level). |

The ENAC Diversity Office is pleased to announce the launch of the Diversity Lunches series, which will focus on discussing methods and techniques that promote, champion and encourage diversity and inclusion in your professional and educational settings.
With this series, we aim to engage those of you who have an interest in diversity and inclusion, regardless of your academic, student, technical, or administrative position. We would like to foster discussion, learn from each other, and exchange experiences regarding diversity.
The inaugural event – Diversity in Teaching – will be on the 18th July - GC B1 10
Our guest speaker, Joelyn De Lima will lead the workshop “Exploring Universal Design for Learning”.

Workshop Description
Universal design focuses on eliminating barriers by consider the needs of diverse people. Such practices have the potential to improve educational outcomes - not only for the target populations, but for other students as well.
After this workshop you will be able to:
- Describe the philosophy and the three principles of Universal Design for Learning.
- Design/redesign courses / activities / materials using Universal Design for Learning to promote inclusivity.
