EPFL STI Workshop on Causality

The EPFL School of Engineering is proud to propose the first EPFL STI Workshop on Causality. The notion of causality has intrigued generations of philosophers, mathematicians and scientists. Already in ancient Greece, Aristotle’s four causes principle defines four fundamental drivers of Why. Recently, the advent of causal inference has allowed us to interrogate causality within a rigorous mathematical framework. These advances are reshaping various fields in data science, machine learning and statistics. In this workshop, world-leading experts will share their views and discuss different perspectives of the fascinating yet elusive notion of causality.
