IEM Seminar : Additive micro-manufacturing of metals—opportunities and challenges beyond geometry

Event details
Date | 08.03.2022 |
Hour | 11:00 › 12:00 |
Speaker |
Dr Alain Reiser Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston |
Location | Online |
Category | Conferences - Seminars |
Event Language | English |
Abstract:
The talk will focus on the materials science of small-scale Advanced Manufacturing. First, an overview of the microstructure of metals printed by contemporary techniques that enable a feature size in the micro and submicrometer range will be presented. The talk will then focus on two different concepts for the ink-free printing of high-quality metals and the deposition of compositionally architected, multi-metal geometries.

About the speaker:
Alain Reiser completed his PhD studies in 2019 at ETH Zürich. After his graduation, he completed a one-year Postdoc at ETH Zürich. He is currently a Postdoc Fellow in the group of Prof. Chris Schuh at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston.
