Walter Thurnherr, Federal Chancellor
Personal reflections from Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr, in office from 1 January 2016 until the end of 2023. As the Federal Council's chief of staff, he supports the President of the Confederation and the Federal Council in the performance of their government duties. He graduated from ETH Zurich in 1987 with a degree in theoretical physics.
