FORUM ROLEX - WEDNESDAY MAY 25th AT 6:30 pm :
It is with great pleasure that we receive Didier Lockwood Quartet featuring Antonio Faraò this year. Didier Lockwood communicates his passion for jazz music with a violin. Born in 1956 in Calais, this French musician follows his father’s steps by starting to play the violin at an early age. Then initiated by his brother Francis, a pianist, he turns to jazz music and improvisation. During more than fourty years of career, Didier Lockwood rubs shoulder with the big names of jazz music, publishes and creates numerous albums and shows, and gives more than 4000 concerts all over the globe. Antonio Faraò was born in 1965 in Rome from a mother painter and father who is a jazz drums player. He begins to play the vibraphone at 6 then studies music theory and the drums. Eventually, his interest goes towards classical piano and he follows the teaching of Adriano Della Giustina and Riccardo Risaliti. Antonio Faraò was trained at The Milan Conservatory (Conservatorio di musica “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano) where he finishes his studies in 1983. He wins several international prizes before releasing his first album in 1999, followed by a sophomore album in 2001. He is renowned for his combinations of mediterranean and afro-american influences.
