Founded in 1996, the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation supports research into genetic diseases with intellectual disability worldwide.
This year’s spring call (deadline: 6 March 2020) is dedicated to both Down syndrome and other rare intellectual disabilities from genetic origin such as Fragile X, cri du chat, Rett, Williams-Beuren, Prader-Willi, Angelman, Smith-Magenis and other syndromes, and will not exceed 50% of the total amount of the annual global grant. Autism not linked to above diseases is out of this call for grants.
The Foundation supports clinical (prioritized), basic, translational and epidemiological research, neurobiology, and pharmacology including animal pharmacology, genetic, genomic, iPSCs, and neuropsychology techniques or data analysis.
Who can apply:
- researchers anywhere in the world.
- holding a long term academic appointment in a hospital, university or research laboratory.
Funding and duration:
- Advanced grants (2-4 grants per year): max. EUR 80’000 for up to 24 months for larger breakthrough projects with preliminary data.
- Pilot or exploratory grants: max. EUR 40’000 for up to 24 months for early stage experiments built on preliminary data, or to ancillary projects to primary larger projects. Clinical projects could benefit from more funding.
- Conferences, workshops and courses.
Eligible costs: personnel costs (up to 50% of the grant), equipment, materials, 10% overhead, administrative costs/services, travel and meeting.
Deadline: 6 March 2020
Review by the Scientific Advisory Board: mid-June 2020
Decision by the Board of Directors: early July 2020
