The LEO Foundation is one of Denmark’s largest commercial foundations. Established in 1984, its main objective is to ensure the long-term independence and success of the global, research-based pharmaceutical company LEO Pharma.
LEO Foundation Open competition grants support the best dermatology research projects worldwide that:
- Improve the understanding of the underlying medicinal, biological, chemical, or pharmacological mechanisms of dermatological diseases and their symptoms.
- Address clinical issues among people who are at risk of developing, or have developed, a skin disease, including how it impacts their quality of life and the societal costs involved.
Type of projects supported: international, research collaboration, exploratory, non-interventional, disease awareness, travel/study grant or other.
Projects NOT supported:
- Projects involving commercial companies.
- Projects involving commercial drug testing.
- Clinical trials and register-based studies testing medical compounds.
Note:
- Do NOT disclose any confidential or IP-related information in your application.
- Open access mandatory for results funded by the foundation.
Who can apply: researchers based at a non-profit institution worldwide.
Funding: no upper or lower limit
(for an indication, have a look at the level of funding awarded to past grantees)
- Budget must be prepared in DKK.
- Eligible costs: salary for PhD students, other project-related costs, 5% overhead.
- Does NOT cover: graduate students, other salaries if funding has been secured, meetings, courses, passive attendance at conferences, travel by several persons from the same research unit or department.
Deadlines: 3 January, 4 March, 14 June, 20 September 2019
