Abstract The electrocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2RR) to value-added chemicals has attracted great attention in recent years as it is a promising strategy to achieve a carbon-neutral energy cycle. However, the application of this process is hindered by lacking of efficient electrocatalysts. To develop highly active and selective electrocatalysts, we have applied different methods to prepare nanostructured-metal catalysts. For example, indium decorated copper nanowires and porous structured zinc have been prepared for selective reduction of CO2 to CO, and porous structured indium catalysts have been prepared for selective reduction of CO2 to formate. Moreover, based on our results, mechanisms insights are also provided which could inspire the develop of other nanostructured catalysts for CO2RR.
