The talk will highlight recent results obtained in the field of microstructured energy harvesters for energy autonomous wireless sensors. We will highlight device designs and packaging concepts able to provide record levels of electrical power from ambient vibrations. Vibrational devices either employ piezoelectric or electrostatic effects for energy conversion at operating frequencies from 100 to 1000 Hz. We present a wireless energy autonomous sensor system which is powered by a vibrational energy harvester and transmits temperature measurements. The presentation will conclude with novel designs intended for broadband vibration susceptibility and frequency tuning capabilities.
