ASCOT is a Monte Carlo orbit-following code for studies of fast ions, impurities, runaway electrons, and other minority species. It solves the kinetic equation in toroidal geometries where both magnetic field and wall collision model can be 3D. The code contains MHD effects, Coulomb collisions, and generators for NBI and fusion alpha particles. This presentation outlines the main features of ASCOT and its applications.
