Category Conferences - Seminars
The NanoSIMS is the latest generation of ion microprobes. Its high spatial resolution, high mass-resolution and sensitivity enable isotopic and trace-elemental analysis to be performed on length scales much smaller than 1 micrometer. This creates new frontiers in the study of solid materials in a wide range of research fields, from Biology to Material Science. The presentation will briefly introduce this new analytical technology, give examples of its use in the study of extra-terrestrial materials and biominerals, and might serve as the starting point for a discussion of future applications in other disciplines.
