This talk is an overview of our recent work on optical spatial solitons in reorientational nonlocal media, namely nematic liquid crystals. After a brief introduction on spatial solitons, nematic liquid crystals and their properties, the main fatures of these solitons will be described with emphasis on controlled routing for guided-wave reconfigurable interconnects, including voltage-driven steering, interactions with defects and extra beams, self-acceleration.
