In this talk, I will present recent joint work with Roland Donninger on optimal blowup stability results for the wave maps equation. More precisely, I will showcase the derivation of Strichartz estimates for radial wave equations with a potential in similarity variables. These are then applied to prove the stability of an explicitly known self similar solution to the wave maps equation under corotational perturbations at the lowest possible regularity.
