On symmetric quotients of finite group algebras

It is easy to see that over a p-adic ring a finite group algebra has only finitely many quotient algebras which are free over the base ring. We investigate connections between the finite group structure and the algebra structure of these quotients. In particular, we consider the question which of these quotients are again symmetric algebras. This is based on work with Radha Kessar and Shigeo Koshitani.
