An Atlas of landscapes
Walks and Positions

The Habitat Research Center has been selected to carry out the Atlas de paysages de la Ville de Paris, as a proposed research-action questioning both the tools and stakes of territorial representations in the context of the socio-ecological Transition. From this perspective, a first study moment is organised in Paris, in the intersected frameworks of the Transition Studio MAS ETH EPFL UTD workshop and HRC working team associated with the research mandate. These days on site are an opportunity for a double confrontation of it: with the territory itself, and with the positions of those who know it, study it and work with it, particularly within the parisian schools of architecture and landscape architecture. It is a “tour des écoles” starting with the question “What is (are) the Parisian landscape(s)?”, a red thread, successively asked on different occasions. Documented and accompanied walks will punctuate these moments of exchange on the methods, attitudes and issues to be mobilised within the cartographic and extra-cartographic exercise of building a new atlas.

This event anticipates others to follow. Among them, “Les conversations de l’Atlas”, to be organised in coordination with the CAUE75, will be the occasion of additional moments, including both academic and public debates, based on and in continuity with this introductory workshop.
