Category | Conferences - Seminars |
Vuataz has 35 years of professional experience in the field of deep geothermal resources, specializing in geothermal fluids, as well as resources exploration and evaluation.
After his PhD thesis, he stayed for a 2-year postdoctoral research in the geothermal group of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA). Then he has been working as a hydrochemical engineer in the geothermal team of the BRGM (French Geological Survey).
Since 1990, based in Switzerland, Dr F.-D. Vuataz has been active for various hydrothermal and EGS (Enhanced Geothermal Systems) projects in France and Switzerland. Among them, he has been involved in the Soultz EGS project (France) during 13 years. In the early 1990s, he created a geothermal research group at the CHYN (University of Neuchâtel) and supervised many Master and PhD theses in the fields of geothermal resources, hot springs systems and deep fluids circulations.
Project leader in various applied research and exploration programmes, he is used to fundraising and to team management. In 2011, he designed and managed a full training course deep in geothermal systems (CAS DEEGEOSYS) and already carried out 2 editions. The 3rd edition of this continuing education programme will start in 2015.
Dr F.-D. Vuataz has been active in many national and international geothermal associations and committees, and he is also the author or co-author of over 160 publications and major reports.
Since July 2014, Dr F.-D. Vuataz is working as a private consultant and continue to teach geothermics at the University of Neuchâtel.
