SUPERSTUDIO FORUM III PISTIS exhibits the current collected certainties from 6 studios envisioning Latent Futures of the Grand Geneva area. During the two day forum formal and informal talks will be accompanied by 3 round tables focused on future visions of our built environment. Leaning on Platons Analogy of the divided line, PISTIS can be seen as an important stepping stone towards the researchers’ conceptual thinking and the essence of the idea, which will be further distilled until the end of the semester.
The Forum PISTIS is dedicated to rhetorical exchange of the current ideas. On the basis of Sébastien Marot’s "Taking The Countryside” student-researchers, guests the public are able to discuss 32 future hypothesis and express their firm conviction, reliability, confidence.
PLATON ( 428-348 BC ) sees in the term PISTIS (πίστις firm conviction, reliability, confidence) an ambiguity: on the one hand it is certainty through the immediacy of perception, but on the other hand, since sensory experience can never guarantee knowledge vouched for by ideas alone, it is based on mere opinion (δόξα) and is thus contrasted with knowledge as ‘faithʼ.
ARISTOTELES (384-322 BC) , for whom PISTIS is a kind of proof (ἀπόδειξίς τις) in the rhetorical field, systematises the various pisteis and makes them the basis of his rhetoric. "The system of proofs (πίστεις) may be called the core of Aristotle's Rhetoric”.[1]

SUPERSTUDIO is a prospective and collective studio that examines the possibilities of imagination and realization of latent futures. Through its title Latent Futures, Superstudio intends to explore visions and attitudes capable of seriously confronting the present environmental condition. Superstudio lands thus in the territory of the Grand Genève to reflect and act on the multiple dimensions of the environmental crisis (climatic change, biodiversity collapse, water scarcity, erosion of soils, energetic descent, etc ). The future (and the future of architectural practice) will be scrutinized with the aid of four narratives developed by Sébastien Marot for the exhibition "Taking The Country's Side". By applying these narratives to the specific territory of the Grand Genève, the studio will pursue a speculative research-oriented nature developed over previous years, adding a layer of reflection. The studio will conclude with a public exhibition in Archizoom.
