Anisotropic dipolar magents, and specifically LiHoF4, are archetypal quantum magnets. The relatively weak spin-spin interaction allows for appreciable quantum fluctuations. Furthermore, upon dilution both ferromagnetic and spin glass phases are realized, and effective longitudinal fields which are locally random can be induced by the application of a transverse field. This allows the study of a plethora of phenomena related to quantum magnetism of disordered systems. In this talk I will discuss two related topics: (i) The disordering of ferromagnets with competing interactions by random fields, and its novelty in comparison to the standard disordering and to the Imry-Ma mechanism. (ii) Quantum arrest and release in the dynamics of coupled Ho spins upon the enhancement of quantum fluctuations, and its correspondence to eletron electron and electronuclear spin engtanglement. Relation to existing and future experiments will be discussed.
