Physical phenomena encountered in turbomachinery are numerous and complex. Fixed and rotating blade rows moving relative to each other generate a fully unsteady flow. Currently, reducing inter blade row distances is of primary interest in industry. Rotor stator interactions, generally divided into pressure effects and wake effects, particularly increase. Our study couples experimental and numerical methods to investigate the rotor stator interactions in a specially designed turbine cascade. After a brief description of the 3D Navier Stokes code used, the pressure effects and the physical phenomena resulting from its interaction with the blades will be described. Significant flow field modifications will be highlighted.
