Category Call for proposal

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Fellowships enable early-career researchers to join a project team from another country, opening up new opportunities and often creating partnerships that last many years and over many Antarctic research seasons. Topics for support should link to the objectives of one or more of SCAR’s science groups, including the Humanities and Social Sciences group, and/or the current Scientific Research Programmes endorsed by SCAR (visit SCAR's science and research pages for details of SCAR's groups).

Funding:       $15,000

Duration:      One year

Eligibility: Applicants must be current PhD researchers or within 5 years of finishing their PhD. They should aim to visit a facility in or run by a SCAR member country, which is different from applicant’s (a) country of origin and (b) current country of residence.

How to Apply: In order to apply for a fellowship, candidates will be required to first contact and liaise with appropriate host Antarctic projects or programmes in order to secure the support and mentorship of an active team. Once such a link has been established, an application can be prepared, which should include:

  • Research Proposal
  • Home institute Agreement and Reference
  • Host Institute Agreement
  • Online Application Form

If EPFL will serve as your home or host institute, please contact the Research Office for assistance with the relevant forms.

Deadline:      31 August 2022
