Established in Glasgow in 1985, the Scottish Cot Death Trust supports research worldwide that contributes to global understanding of the pathology and risk factors of sudden unexpected death in infancy. The charity encourages co-operative and collaborative research as a means of accelerating progress towards new knowledge and understanding of cot deaths.

Who can apply: researchers worldwide.

Funding and duration: grants are usually between £30,000 – £80,000 each for up to 36 months.

Applications are accepted all year round.

  • Pre-proposal: submit a 2-3 page research plan to [email protected], specifying the amount and duration of the requested funds and the relevance of your research to the Trust’s mission.
  • Full proposal (on invitation).

Applications are assessed through a stringent, highly competitive peer review process. Final decisions are made by the trustees on recommendation by the Trust’s Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC).
