How it works:
  • Researchers in the two countries need only submit one grant application for joint projects.
  • The projects must have a joint research question and a joint research plan. The work in each country does not constitute an independent project and therefore cannot be carried out separately.
  • Falls under SNSF Project Funding Scheme
    • No additional budget
    • SNFS applicants may only submit a Lead Agency proposal if there are no thematic overlaps with other applications or with ongoing projects
    • Israeli collaborators have their own budget rules & calculator
Amount:
  • Maximum: 1 million francs annually for the project as a whole
  • Maximum: 250,000 francs annually per applicant per project
  • Applicants can freely divide grant funds among themselves
  • Minimum: 100,000 francs
  • SNSF grant covers staff salaries, research costs and funding for scientific collaboration
  • Primary investigator salary is paid by host institution
Duration:
  • Maximum: 48 months
  • Minimum: 12 months
Deadline: 02 October 2023
  • The two funding agencies have agreed to take turns as lead agency on a yearly basis
  • In 2023 researchers must submit their applications to SNSF
  • Israeli researchers submitting an application must register with the ISF by 24 October 2023 and submit an administrative application by 7 November 2023 (applicants without a registration will not be processed)
Eligibility:
  • Experienced researchers
  • Working at a university or another institution in Switzerland that is eligible to receive funding.
  • In collaborative projects with three or more applicants, one applicant may work at a research institute abroad if their expertise is necessary for the project.
