SNSF Spark aims at supporting the rapid testing or development of novel and unconventional scientific approaches, methods, theories, standards and ideas in any disciplines. The focus is on promising ideas of high originality for which preliminary data are not necessarily available (high-risk research). Applicants can request a budget of Min. CHF 50’000 – Max. 100’000 for 6-12 months.

Proposals are evaluated in a double-blind process by members of an international pool of experts.

Proposals are evaluated in a double-blind process by members of an international pool of experts.
Who can apply?
- Applicants at any career level holding a Doctorate (PhD or MD-PhD) or equivalent qualification.
- Doctoral students are eligible only if they have completed at least 3 years of research work since obtaining their higher education degree and prior to commencing their doctorate.
- The applicant must be employed at a Swiss institution for the duration of the project.
