Thanks to an annual contribution of CHF 250’000 by the Käthe Zingg-Schwichtenberg (KZS) Fund, the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) supports research projects by junior researchers in biomedical ethics. The 2019 call for proposals is thematically open. However, in the event of applications of equal scientific quality, preference will be given to projects in the field of clinical and public health ethics
 
KZS Seed Grants are meant to allow grantees to explore novel research ideas, to realize a small, independent pilot project and/or to prepare their own project proposal to be submitted to a larger funding agency. The objective of the call is to support junior researchers to establish a record of independent research and facilitate the transition to the next step of their academic career.
 
Who can apply:

  • Doctoral and postdoctoral, non-tenured researchers, aiming at an academic career in the field of biomedical ethics and active at a research institution in Switzerland by the time of the submission deadline and for the intended duration of the grant.
 
Funding & Duration:
  • max. CHF 50'000 for up to 12 months.
  • Eligible costs: project-related costs and a portion of the PI’s salary.
 
Deadline for Letter of Intent: 15 June 2019
Deadline for full application: 1 October 2019 (upon invitation)
Evaluation by the KZS Committee.
Start of the project: between 1 December 2019 and 1 June 2020.
