Founded in 1903, the Swiss Lung Association is a nationwide service organization for the lungs and the respiratory tract. It consists of 19 cantonal lung leagues coordinated by the Bern office. The Association does NOT support research in relation to the tobacco industry.   

The Swiss Lung Association supports research (including ongoing projects) related to lung health:

  • Pneumology (basic research, experimental research and clinical research).
  • Social medicine/science, public health and health economics.
  • Epidemiology: dissemination, causes and effects of diseases in populations.
  • Air pollution control and air quality.
  • Prevention.

Who can apply:
  • teams of independent researchers, employed at an institution in Switzerland.
  • you can’t apply if you already have a running grant from the Swiss Lung Association.

Funding & Duration:
  • The budget range for a single grant usually is at CHF 40'000.- to 180'000.-
  • Duration: max. 48 months

For what: Personnel (incl. salary of the principle investigator), Equipment, Consumables, Operations Costs (i.e Travel, Printing etc.), other project-related expenses.
Does NOT cover: overheads, facilities and administrative costs.
Deadline: 11 March 2022

Evaluation & Decision by the Research Committee: within 3-4 months from the call deadline

    • the Lay Summary Template (max. 3’000 characters) (note that this may be published on the association’s website)
  • prepare your application in English
  • declare any third party funding
