Motivating students about materials in introductory and advanced courses
Whatever the field of application students need to understand the science behind materials properties but also have to be able to use them for practical design projects.
Based on the use of the teaching resource CES EduPack, Rémi Doué from Granta Education Division, will present ideas to support your existing courses:
- Introducing materials to 1st and 2nd year students in a visual way
- Exploring the science behind materials properties
- Case-study: simple materials selection project
- Case-study: analysing the environmental impact of products or buildings
- Simulating properties and performance of materials that your students create (sandwich panels, composites, etc.)
- Comparing “your” materials with existing ones and managing your own data
