In the first part of the talk, we'll review the Duflo isomorphism between the center of the universal enveloping algebra and the ring of invariant polynomials. We'll establish a link between this problem and the convolution of invariant distributions on a Lie group. We'll also discuss how these two questions are related to the Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture on properties of the Campbell-Hausdorff series.
