Sabine Mueller, MD, Ph.D., MAS is the Co-Founder and Project Lead of PNOC and Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She is a board certified pediatric neuro-oncologist who specializes in the care of children and young adults with brain tumors. Prof. Mueller leads the pediatric brain tumor program at UCSF and serves as one of the leads of the pediatric malignancy program of the UCSF Helen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Center. Prior to completing medical school, she served as a scientist, director of genomics, and project leader for the brain tumor program at AGY Therapeutics, a biotechnology company in South San Francisco. Prof. Mueller earned her PhD and MD degrees from the University of Hamburg, Germany, and furthered her medical training at Harvard University and UCSF. She is board-certified in pediatrics, neurology with focus on child neurology, and neuro-oncology. In her research, Prof. Mueller focuses on developing new therapeutic approaches for children with brain tumors with a specific interest in diffuse midline glioma, as well as improving long-term cognitive outcomes. She currently leads PNOC – an international clinical trial consortium with 22 sites in the US as well as sites in Switzerland, Netherlands, Israel, Australia, Egypt and India - and serves as the Medical Lead of the Diffuse Midline Glioma center in Zurich, Switzerland. Recently, Dr. Mueller also joined the Childhood Brain Tumor Network as the executive co-chair and is an affiliated group leader at the Princess Maxima Center in the Netherlands. She has received multiple grants, including funding from the Department of Defense and the National Cancer Institute.
