Time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy is performed on isolated molecules in molecular beams using sub-20 fs vacuum ultraviolet pulses and two-dimensional imaging technique. Discussed also is an application of time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy to aqueous solutions to elucidate electron dynamics coupled with solvent responses.
