Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Chronic Pain Management Research Program (CPMRP) Awards. The CPMRP Translational Research Award is intended to support translational research that will accelerate the movement of evidence-based ideas in chronic pain management research into clinical applications, such as healthcare products, technologies, clinical practice guidelines, and/or models of care. TRA applications should explain how the proposed work will inform the development, refinement, and/or revision of existing standards of care, recommendations, or guidelines for managing chronic pain. Studies evaluating opioid-based therapeutic interventions are not allowed.

To meet the intent of the award mechanism, applications must address one of the FY20 CPMRP Focus Areas, which are listed at the end of this announcement.

Funding:        max. $1’400’000

Duration:      4 years

Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) are eligible to be named as the Principal Investigator (PI) on the application.

How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a preproposal narrative, and a list of collaborators and key personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.
