Category Call for proposal
Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Neurofibromatosis Research Program (NFRP) for 2019. The Early Investigator Research Award supports NF-focused research opportunities for individuals in the early stages of their careers, under the guidance of a designated Mentor. The PI must outline an individualized, NF-focused Researcher Development Plan. The researcher development plan should include a clearly articulated strategy for acquiring the necessary skills, competence, and expertise that will enable the PI to successfully complete the proposed research project and foster the PI’s development as an independent NF researcher.

Areas of Emphasis: The FY19 NFRP strongly encourages research applications that specifically address the critical needs of the NF community in one or more of the following Areas of Emphasis:
  • Health services research
  • Heterogeneity of NF-related tumors
  • Non-tumor manifestations
  • Novel disease and treatment response markers using genomics, epigenetics, systems biology, metabolomics, or similar approaches
  • Nutritional, environmental, and other modifiers of NF
  • Preclinical efficacy studies
  • Target identification, drug discovery
  • Targeted immunotherapies
