Aim: : Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Reconstructive Transplant Research Program (RTRP) for 2019. The Idea Discovery Award is intended to support innovative, untested, high-risk/ potentially high-reward concepts, theories, paradigms, and/or methods relevant to reconstructive transplant. The outcome of research supported by this award should be the generation of robust data that can be used as a foundation for new avenues of scientific investigation.
 
To meet the intent of the FY19 RTRP Idea Discovery Award mechanism, applicants must address at least one of the FY19 RTRP Focus Areas listed at the end of this announcement. Because the Idea Discovery Award is designed for preliminary investigations, projects involving human subjects or anatomical substances will not be supported.
 
Funding: Maximum USD $ 500’000
 
Duration: 2 years
 
Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at or above the level of postdoctoral fellow (or equivalent) are eligible to be named as the PI on an application.
 
How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a list of collaborators and key personnel, a preproposal narrative, and supporting documents as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.
