Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP) for 2018. The intent of the SCIRP Clinical Trial Award is to support the rapid implementation of clinical trials with the potential to have a significant impact on the treatment or management of SCI. Clinical trials may be designed to evaluate promising new products, pharmacologic agents (drugs or biologics), devices, clinical guidance, and/or emerging approaches and technologies. Proposed projects may range from small proof-of-concept trials (e.g., pilot, first in human, Phase 0) to demonstrate feasibility or inform the design of more advanced trials through large-scale trials to determine efficacy in relevant patient populations.
 
To meet the intent of the award mechanism, all applications must address at least one or more of the FY18 SCIRP CTA Focus Areas, which are listed at the end of this announcement.
 
Funding: Maximum USD $ 3’000’000
 
Duration: 4 years
 
Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Independent investigators at all academic levels are eligible to submit applications.
 
How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a list of collaborators and key personnel, a proposal narrative, and supporting documents as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.
