[ Velux Stiftung | Research funding on daylight, healthy ageing and ophthalmology ]

Event details
Date | 30.09.2020 |
Category | Call for proposal |
Velux Stiftung was founded in 1980 by Villum Kann Rasmussen, a Danish engineer. He developed a novel window construction that could be installed in sloping roofs, which he named “VELUX” (“Ve” for ventilation, and “Lux” for light).
The Velux Stiftung supports basic and applied research in the fields of:
- daylight
- healthy ageing
- ophthalmology -> NEW: The foundation has recently published its new focus in ophthalmology research. For the next call deadline (September 30, 2020) all projects in ophthalmology research will still be examined, although applications in the new focus will be preferred. From the following call deadline (April 30, 2021), only applications in the new focus will be considered.
Projects should:
- stem from innovative, out-of-the-box ideas,
- be relevant beyond the borders of a single discipline,
- accelerate research by removing bottlenecks,
- enable implementation of research and
- promote and/or implement their results inside and outside academia.
Projects outside these fields, but under medicine and biology (especially biology gerontology and geriatrics), have a low likelihood of being supported, but may be considered in exceptional cases.
The foundation welcomes international and interdisciplinary collaborations.
The project application needs to establish a good argumentation why no sufficient governmental support can be obtained.
Who can apply
- Both individual researchers and research groups can apply.
- The main applicant (e.g. professor, group leader) must be a permanent employee of a university or other permanent research entity anywhere in the world.
- Non-permanent employees are welcome to apply as co-applicants.
