Aim: With the funding programme "NEXT – Quantum Biology", the Foundation aims to support the proof of quantum effects in biological systems, thereby increasing the acceptance of this research field. The Foundation is looking for interdisciplinary project teams that are prepared to take on the challenge of overcoming the limitations of current approaches. Foundation is looking for projects that aim to prove the existence of quantum-mechanical phenomena in biological systems, and projects that are innovative and overcome the limitations of existing research approaches.
Duration: up to 4 years
Funding: up to EUR 2 million (incl. 10% overheads)
Eligibility: The program addresses researchers from postdoc onwards. The lead applicant must work at a university or research institution in Germany. The involvement of researchers at universities abroad as co-applicants is greatly appreciated. Project teams consisting of 2-4 PIs with expertise in the fields of biology and physics are encouraged, additional expertise, e.g. in chemistry or engineering, is welcome.
