The Doctoral Exchange Grants of the ZKS Foundation support collaborative inter-university doctoral top research in the fields of engineering, environmental sciences (which includes bioengineering, but not life science or biology), medieval disciplines including medieval studies, as well as research in digital humanities at the intersection of medieval disciplines and computing.
 
Aim: to encourage research collaboration between two universities, namely the home university of the doctoral candidate and a hosting university, one of the two preferably situated in Switzerland. The grant will cover travel and local living costs of the candidate while visiting the hosting university or research institute exclusively, plus flat rate economy-class return airfare/train ticket from the home university to the hosting university.
 
Funding: a stipend of CHF 2’500 per month to defray local living expenses at the hosting university, plus agreed economy-class return airfare/train ticket from the home to the hosting university, plus limited research expenditures for the duration of the stay at the hosting university or research institute.
Please note that the applicant cannot receive any other source of funding included assistant salary.
 
Duration: 4-12 months
 
Deadlines: 15 March and 15 September (23:59 Swiss local time) (every year).
