SEMINAR of the LAUSANNE INTEGRATIVE METABOLISM and NUTRITION ALLIANCE (LIMNA)

Abstract:
My research project aimed to understand how cells receive and integrate multiple signals from the extracellular milieu. I focused on Smad proteins and my talk will be divided into two parts. In the first part, I will describe a new molecular mechanism by which the phosphorylation state of the drosophila transcription factor Mad determines its ability to transduce either BMP or Wingless (Wg) signals. In the second part of my talk, I will describe how Smad4 activity and stability are directly regulated by the Wnt and FGF signaling pathways through novel MAPK and GSK3 phosphorylation sites located in its linker region.
