The aim is to facilitate breakthrough scientific developments leading to new concepts and products. COST does not fund research but supports networking (COST Actions) via different tools such as meetings, short-term scientific exchanges, training schools and dissemination activities. COST Actions have a duration of 4 years. The deadline to submit a COST Action is usually in October. COST Actions do not cover research funding. Integration into existing COST actions is possible.
\r\n
\r\nSwitzerland is one of the founding countries of COST and a full member of the COST Association. Thanks to this status, researchers in Switzerland are entitled to participate in COST Actions or to coordinate them and submit applications for new Actions. Thus, scientists based in Switzerland are fully eligible for all COST activities and for reimbursement of their related expenses.
\r\nSNSF provides support for the proposal preparation for COST Actions.
\r\n
\r\nFind information about open calls and guidelines on COST Europe
\r\nContact SNSF COST webpage for support services.
\r\nSNSF Contact: Ladina Knapp, [email protected]
\r\nContact [email protected] for questions
\r\n
\r\n ", "image_description": "", "creation_date": "2025-10-23T14:32:45", "last_modification_date": "2025-10-23T14:51:56", "link_label": "", "link_url": "", "canceled": "False", "cancel_reason": "", "place_and_room": "", "url_place_and_room": "", "url_online_room": "", "spoken_languages": [], "speaker": "", "organizer": "", "contact": "[email protected]", "is_internal": "False", "theme": "", "vulgarization": { "id": 1, "fr_label": "Tout public", "en_label": "General public" }, "registration": { "id": 3, "fr_label": "Entrée libre", "en_label": "Free" }, "keywords": "", "file": null, "icalendar_url": "https://memento.epfl.ch/event/export/118257/", "category": { "id": 16, "code": "PROP", "fr_label": "Appel à proposition", "en_label": "Call for proposal", "activated": true }, "academic_calendar_category": null, "domains": [], "mementos": [ "https://memento.epfl.ch/api/v1/mementos/140/?format=api" ] }, { "id": 69714, "title": "ERC Advanced Grants 2026", "slug": "erc-advanced-grants-2026", "event_url": "https://memento.epfl.ch/event/erc-advanced-grants-2026", "visual_url": "https://memento.epfl.ch/image/31203/200x112.jpg", "visual_large_url": "https://memento.epfl.ch/image/31203/720x405.jpg", "visual_maxsize_url": "https://memento.epfl.ch/image/31203/max-size.jpg", "lang": "en", "start_date": "2026-08-27", "end_date": "2026-08-27", "start_time": null, "end_time": null, "description": "Call currently closed
\r\n
\r\nAim
\r\nSupport for excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements. Several award programs are available:\r\n
\r\n\t
The Breakthrough Awards supports promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. The Breakthrough Award is structured with four different funding levels. Each level has a defined research scope :\r\n\t
\r\n\t\t
Funding Level 1: Innovative, high-risk/high-reward research that is in the earliest stages of idea development or is an untested theory that addresses an important problem.
\r\n\t\t
Funding Level 2: Research that is already supported by substantial preliminary or published data and strongly validates clinical translation in a well-defined context within the breast cancer landscape.
\r\n\t\t
Funding Level 3: Advanced translational studies with a high degree of project readiness.
\r\n\t\t
Funding Level 4: Large-scale projects that will transform and revolutionize the clinical management and/or prevention of breast cancer. Human clinical trials are required.
\r\n\t
\r\n\t
\r\n\t
The Clinical Research Extension Award aims to extend the data collection, follow-up, and analysis of breast cancer clinical research studies. Proposed research may entail a deeper molecular analysis of clinical samples, initiation of new correlative studies, biomarker validation, or continuing clinical follow-up of patients currently/previously enrolled in an open/ongoing or completed clinical trial.
\r\n\t
The Era of Hope Scholar Award supports individuals early in their careers who have demonstrated significant potential to effect meaningful change in breast cancer. These individuals should be exceptionally talented scientists who have shown that they are the “best and brightest” in their field(s)
\r\n\t
The Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Award is designed to support large-scale, multidisciplinary and multi-institutional consortia that address major challenges in breast cancer through tightly integrated and collaborative research efforts. It enables up to five Principal Investigators, including a Consortium Director, to work within a coordinated framework where all project components are aligned toward a shared central hypothesis. The award specifically aims to foster innovative and paradigm-shifting approaches that go beyond the capabilities of individual laboratories, requiring strong integration across scientific, administrative, and logistical aspects, as well as the active involvement of breast cancer advocates and cross-disciplinary expertise.
\r\n\t
The Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Development Award is intended to provide successful applicants the time and resources needed to bring investigators and breast cancer advocates together to establish a consortium framework and conduct preliminary research to support application to a future, full Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Award (pending availability of funds). This is a development award and is a separate mechanism from the full consortium award. Recipients of the FY26 Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Development Award are expected to submit an application to compete for the full Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Award anticipated to be offered in a future fiscal year(s).
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nAll applications must align with at least one BCRP Overarching Challenge.
