The 3<sup>rd</sup> call is now open with a submission deadline of 9 November 2026 17:00 (CET). </strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nFellows will work with several laboratories at EPFL and will be granted ample freedom to develop their own research agenda. This will include contributing to and participating in various community activities and strategic initiatives associated with the EPFL AI Center.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nKey goals of this Fellowship are to:<br>\r\n \r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Advance cutting-edge AI research;</li>\r\n\t<li>Promote ethical AI development ensuring fellows critically evaluate issues such as bias, privacy, and fairness in AI research;</li>\r\n\t<li>Prepare for the next generation of leaders in AI;</li>\r\n\t<li>Spark interdisciplinary collaboration between the EPFL AI Center’s community.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<br>\r\nThe 3rd call for proposals is now open and the deadline for the submission of the applications is<strong> 9 November 2026 17:00 (CET).</strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>Who can apply: </strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nApplications are encouraged from researchers at the postdoctoral level.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nApplicants must have obtained a PhD diploma in computer science, physics, engineering, applied mathematics, or another field relevant to artificial intelligence, <strong>no more than two years before the submission deadline</strong>.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nDoctoral students in their last year can also apply, but they will need to have completed their PhD degree by the time they start their fellowship project.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThis call is open to applicants of all nationalities. No age restrictions apply.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>Funding and duration:</strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nThe fellowship is granted for a maximum period of <strong>two</strong> years, and it covers a contribution to the salary of approx. 50% (EPFL <a href=\"https://www.epfl.ch/campus/services/people-experience/en/remuneration-and-benefits/salaries-of-other-staff-categories/\">salary scales</a> apply). The remaining part of the salary is covered by the EPFL host laboratories. This makes them promising platforms for spin-optoelectronics and quantum technologies<sup>2,3</sup>.<br>\r\nDesigning them rationally, however, requires understanding how chirality is transferred from the<br>\r\norganic cations to the inorganic framework, and how this transfer governs their chiroptical and spin<br>\r\nproperties<sup>4</sup>.<br>\r\nIn this seminar I will present a simulation framework that combines ab initio molecular dynamics, freeenergy<br>\r\nmethods and time-dependent density functional theory to predict circular dichroism (CD),<br>\r\ncircularly polarized luminescence (CPL), absorption and emission dissymmetry factors (gabs, glum) in<br>\r\nchiral perovskites. Applied to (R/S-MBA)2PbI4 and its tin analogue, this approach shows that<br>\r\nenantiomeric excess acts as a continuous dial for chiroptical properties<sup>5</sup>. The response follows a<br>\r\ncooperative majority-rule mechanism, which we validated against experiments across the full<br>\r\nenantiomeric series. Electronic-structure analysis links the two characteristic CD bands to distinct<br>\r\nband-edge and organic–inorganic transitions.<br>\r\nI will also discuss how chemical strain and hydrostatic pressure can tune the intensity and sign of CPL<br>\r\nemission<sup>6</sup>, and how structural chirality, spin-orbit coupling and lattice distortions may shape spin<br>\r\npolarization.
