Aim: The Asahi Kasei Pharma Open Innovation platform is recruiting candidates for research collaborations related to drug discovery. These candidates that will work together with AKP researchers, who are professionals in drug discovery research, to promote drug discovery research with practical applications. Importantly, this program is not a research grant. Prior to the start of research, a joint research plan and research collaboration agreement will be drafted. Use of research funds will be limited those described in this joint research plan.
Programs open under this platform include:
Funding: $200,000 / year
Duration: 1-3 years
Eligibility: Researchers who belong to a university or research institute outside Japan (academia, pharmaceutical company, bio-tech, start-up, etc.) are eligible to apply. Students are not accepted.
How to Apply: The application process starts with an application form, followed by two rounds of selection. The second round of selection involves an interview and potentially a confidentiality agreement, depending on the nature of the application. Only non-confidential information should be submitted in the application. Please get in touch with the Research Office when formulating the budget to be sure the correct overhead is accounted for.
